With its charming yellow farmhouse and its winery in a barn, Standing Stone appears to be an old-fashioned Finger Lakes winery, but it actually produced its first wine in 1993. Since then, owners Marti and Tom Macinski have consistently made an array of the region's best wines: Dessert wines from Vidal, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer; and table wines from Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, and Riesling.
Standing Stone Vidal Ice, is a remarkably balanced ice wine with bold apricot flavors and bright melons and citrus. The wine is supported by an explosive texture with a truly wowing mouth feel. The winery uses special yeast that can withstand the very cold temperatures and the high osmotic pressure of the juice. By keeping a clean and steady fermentation, the winery can maximize the rich fruit flavors and opulent mouthfeel and structure.
