To be labeled BONDED, a whiskey must originate from a single distilling company, be produced during a single season - either spring (January to June) or fall (July to December - and be aged for a minimum of 4 years in the same barrel in a federally bonded warehouse, and be bottled specifically at 100 Proof (50% ABV)

Devised to assure the public that their whiskey was authentic and safe, the Bottled In Bond Act was created at a time when counterfeit and often dangerous whiskey flooded an unregulated market. It was the first consumer protection act in United States History It is the mark of authenticity
