Mansus Makovec, Pinot Grigio 2017)

The Makovec winery has always produced serious and more terroir driven wines, even for Vipava Valley standards. Unlike most Pinot Grigio's at this price point, this wine does not even have a touch of fruit. Earthy, chalky, structured, vegetal, but it drinks surprisingly well! The wine does have a broad and substantial presence on the palate due to the old vines that the grapes come from.
