Pierre-Marie Chermette, Origine Vieilles Vignes Beaujolais Nouveau 2025

Nouveau 2024. At Domaine Chermette, Beaujolais Nouveau is crafted in the same way as the rest of their wines. Vat selection for the nouveau wine comes a bit later than most, on tasting, whereupon they choose the most supple, fruity wine. This year Chermette was rewarded with a small crop of healthy, concentrated grapes that required very little intervention in the winery.

A quite atypical Beaujolais Nouveau made using grapes from old vines, this is the expression of the Gamay grape at its purest. A very ‘winy’ cuvée, which is all grape and never chaptalized. Dark purple, well-structured, and ripe on the palate with classic notes of cassis and raspberry. The complexity of this wine is unexpected from Nouveau, making it a rarity that can improve over the winter and be enjoyed right through the following summer.
