In the Feret 1908 classification, Chateau Grand Launay was included as one of the best crus Bourgeois. It is now owned and managed by Pierre-Henri Cosyns, who is also the winemaker. Viticulture is certified organic - Ecocert and Agriculture Biologique. The blend of the vines is interesting - 70 % Merlot, 20% Malbec, and 10% of the two Cabernets. Fermentations with indigenous yeasts, aging in concrete for some cuvees, in older barrique for 10-18 months for others. Cotes de Bourg wines, on clay-limestone terroir not far from Pomerol, have long represented good value, but Pierre-Henri winess especially so, with an expression of terroir and depth well beyond their price point.
