Brilliant garnet-red color, with warmer tinges developing over time. Oak renderings of cedarwood and spice are woven together with wild cherry, cassis, and crushed stone. Licorice, and dried flowers. Dry taste, full tannins.
The 2007 vintage has notes of earth, truffle, dark red fruit, and tobacco. The wine is getting better each vintage. This is ripe and generous, full of freshly minted tannins and layers of wood over the ripe berry fruit.
A green note of tomato leaf and sage adds freshness to the currant and blackberry flavors at the core, with firm tannins and a spicy finish.
